Inspire to Do inspires dreams for special needs children by exposing them to real world opportunities. In March 2009, The Inspire To Do Power Soccer event in partnership with BORP and Project Insight was held at Kezar Pavillion in San Francisco, CA. Power soccer was brought to San Francisco for the first time for our children in Power Wheelchairs to experience! Power Soccer is an indoor team sport played by people who use power wheelchairs. It provided a fun, competitive, and accessible opportunity to not only play soccer but the rare chance to be a part of a team with others just like themselves, working together toward a common goal! Our players included people with quadriplegia, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries and other disabilities.

Well I work in a Nursing home and love my job. I do not want to get fired. Anyway my problem is that there was this resident tonight who got upset with me because he came to the smoke room late when I was about to close it. I told him he needed to go outside if he wanted to smoke and he kicked the door open with his power wheel chair and ran into me and ran over my foot. I got my foot out of the way and he ran me over again and got my foot stuck under his chair and leg smashed between his chair and the wall. Somehow I lifted the 600 lbs off of me and once I was free he zoomed into the room, knocked over chairs and tables and turned around coming at me again I jumped out of the way and he zoomed out of the room. Well my knee is hurting really bad. I have a swollen bruise and scratches on it. And I am surprised my foot he kept running over doesn’t bother me! Well I filled out a report; the nurse on my unit got some aides to take his power chair away and give him a regular chair. He was combative so they called the cops. The cops came and got him out of his chair while he was combative to them as well. The administrator was called and when she came in (an hour after it happened) she talked to him and gave him his chair back! Not to mention this is the third staff member who has been ran over by this resident. Back to the point I am debating on calling State to file a complaint against the facility because I am offended, next time it could be a resident who could actually be really hurt by him or killed. I feel like they just don’t want to deal with him because of his temper. Apparently before the administrator got there he kicked the regular chair over and peed all over it and the floor! P.S. He is his own self.

I don’t believe an employee should ever put up with mistreatment. You are suppose to be accommodated reasonably and to work in a reasonably safe environment. Could you get fired? Unfortunately its possible, but nursing aide jobs are fairly plentiful. And you can always file anonymous complaint, though you might not get much satisfaction. I would start with any resource that protects employees, like H and R and you might want to check with the safety board or agency in your state. Don’t just let this go. I know it isn’t easy to deal with but you Deserve better treatment and so do other staff.

Ok, lets face it, the so-called Rednecks (aka: hillbillies, inbreds, countryfolk, backwoods Iggies, etc. etc.), are without a doubt the most adorable and hilarious bunch of people there is!
With an unequivocal cultural stereotype, their unpretentious, simple, ingenious and incredibly resourceful McGyver-esque country way of doing things typically defies all logic, reason, norms, culture and even morality, providing the rest of us with a never ending source of amusement and an abundant supply of hilarious videos, pictures and jokes.
What would we ever do without them!

No insurance? Cant afford a power wheelchair? No Problem!! Just stop by your local hardware store for some supplies, grab a 24-pack of Bud at the convenience store then head over to Uncle Billy-Bobs shack and ask him to build you one!!
OH YEA, I want one of these rad motorized power-chairs! LOL!!
